Description

Millions of women each year are affected by vaginitis infections, and they are at increased risk for sexually transmitted infections (STIs). STI rates continue to be on the rise in the U.S. and the impact of STIs can be detrimental to women’s health. Accurate clinical diagnosis of vaginitis and STIs can help reverse this trend.

Join Dr. Arlene Seña, and Dr. Jane Schwebke in a discussion on STI co-infections and vaginitis. The discussion will review recently published literature and study data that highlights STI distribution among women with symptoms of vaginitis, single and multiple infection rates in women with vaginitis, and STI prevalence of women with clinician and lab diagnosed bacterial vaginosis. The impact of misdiagnosis will be examined as well as the accuracy of vaginitis diagnosis with molecular diagnostics.
